31-may-2011: Getting Things Done
During this workshop, led by Bart Ramakers (DSM) at the headquarter of Medic (Utrecht) the participants discovered David Allen's powerful methods to vastly increase their personal organization, efficiency, and creative results. At work and in life.
"In today's world, yesterday's methods just don't work. Veteran coach and management consultant David Allen shares his breakthrough methods for stress-free performance that he has introduced to tens of thousands of people across the country. Allen's premise is simple: our productivity is directly proportional to our ability to relax. Only when our minds are clear and our thoughts are organized can we achieve effective results and unleash our creative potential. From core principles to proven tricks, Getting Things Done can transform the way you work and live, showing you how to pick up the pace without wearing yourself down." 17-mar-2011: Cloud Computing
Content Management in the cloud and the traditional IT challenges
As companies deal with fast changing regulatory environments, rising security concerns, and struggle with a lack of accessibility to information across geographically distributed sites, both the business and IT sides are faced with the standard imperatives to improve efficiency, increase productivity and reduce costs. While both sides have differences in priorities and ways to achieve their goals, they all are confronted with the everlasting demand for doing more with less. In addition the volume of information and documents in corporate companies is constantly growing. According to Gartner, the trend is that enterprise data is expected to grow 650% over the next five years. More than 80% of this new data will be unstructured.
The growth of enterprise data, with the IT challenges to make information widely available while maintaining security and reducing costs, will be discussed in our next DITMA event as we present the governance and service delivery aspects of enterprise content management (ECM) in cloud environments.
The event was held on Thursday, March 17 from 14:30 to 17:30 at the CSC office Orteliuslaan 1004 in Utrecht. It consists of the following presentations:
1) Business in the driver seat as IT becomes a commodity
The governance aspects of content management as an enterprise application and a service
2) ECM in the cloud: New technology, new mistakes ?
The implementation of ECM from business case to service delivery
3) How to move to a cloud based ECM service
An example of the implementation of Google Apps in a corporate organisation.

15-feb-2011: Round Table on Enterprise Architecture
Last Round Table (15-Feb-2011) we discussed how to create buy-in for an “Enterprise Architecture (EA)” initiative for the various stakeholders and levels within the organization? What is Enterprise Architecture? Enterprise Architecture is the consistent set of rules and models that guides the design and implementation of processes, organizational structures, information, applications and technical infrastructure.
Issues that were discussed:
  • What level of strategic direction is required for defining and implementing an EA successfully?
  • How to create real, tangible objectives for an EA?
  • How to define the added value of implementing an EA for the various stakeholders and levels within the organization?
  • How to ‘operationalize’ an EA initiative and embed the deliverables into the ‘normal way of working’.
Problem presenter
Bas van den Heuvel is Business Process manager EMEA at Watts IndustriesEurope. He has 12 years experience in process optimization, process redesign and IT implementations and financial- and business control.

Bas van den Heuvel: "One of the major drivers for this round table discussion was: “how to create buy in for EA”. Within Watts Industries we struggle to get the EA initiative implemented within the company. Although the added value is very clear, not only within the IT department but also at board level, somehow it stays at a powerpoint level. Attending this round table discussion were people from a diverse group of companies with all a decent experience in EA.

Although some attendees’ companies completely embraced the EA initiative and have active departments to carry the initiative, the issue of getting buy in (albeit on a different level; i.e.. on project level isntead of board level) still exists.

The discussions we had were in my opinion very valuable as the attendess did explain what issues they ran into and what approach was taken to solve those issues. Not only these discussions gave a different viewpoint on possible approaches but also you get to hear what worked for what reason.

Evolvement from Watts problem to general discussion ensured that everybody, after drinks and bites, went home with quite some interesting food for thought. I definitely have picked up new ideas which will help us considerably in our goal to implement EA.

Again, thank you very much!"

8-dec-2010: Haal meer uit LinkedIn
Questions like "How can people find me on LinkedIn?, "How do I find a client, employer, employee?, "How to tempt a client, employer, professional to contact me?" were answered by this inspirational workshop of Mr. Bas Westland (http://www.epeople.nl/). If you are interested in his presentation, please send a mail to info@ditma.org with the subject 'Request presentation LinkedIn workshop'.
Some reactions of the participants:

(Guus Keizer, RDW)
